Societies in Transition
Energy, Climate and Oceans Impacts on the Global Economy
Journalists and Experts Alumni Program
Berlin Hamburg Copenhagen
January 27 February 3, 2010
The Alumni Journalist Program „Societies in Transition: Energy, Climate and Oceans Impacts on the Global Economy“ aims at enhancing both transatlantic exchange and the awareness of Germany in the American media. The members of the „Round Table USA“ are using the opportunity to foster an increased dialogue between their alumni from the US and Germany, as has proven to be successful on seminar journeys of this kind before. This way the efficiency and sustainability of the coordination of transatlantic projects can be altered effectively.
The participants of this journey are going to travel to Berlin, Hamburg and Copenhagen in the time period from January 27 to February 3. The discussions and excursions taking place in those three cities are going to be clustered around three topics: energy, climate change and trade/markets. The partner organizations have identified those topics as crucial elements to the transatlantic debate of the coming years. The focus will be on the German-American experiences and developments in regard to those topics. By paying a visit to Copenhagen, the city hosting the World Climate Conference, the agenda of the journey is extended by another European element.
Meetings with high-ranking government representatives, experts from NGOs and scholars are planned for the stay in Berlin. The activities of the journey continue in Hamburg with a mixture of symposia, project visits and different networking occasions. In Copenhagen the participants are going to meet several politicians, scholars and will be able to experience some projects in real life. The agenda of the journey is designed and realized through the Körber Foundation.
